Somewhere South of Sheer Insanity…. (Synthetic Ascent Version-bass riff)

Not sure if anyone is actually following… the evolutions… of this Insanity….

Flipped it….
Stripped it….
Slowed it down….
And almost ground it down… to a complete stop….

A nine step ascending Chromatic bass riff….

No longer anything like Dazed and Confused….
I almost hear some Eminem….
Screaming….
As Sasha Baron Cohen… that pent-up… petulant… pig pen pet falls out of the sky…
To stifle his misogynist dreams….

Well… not really….
But it rhymed… approximately… partially…
So… the corporate decision was decadently made to just go with it….

Note: If any of you don’t like this piece… or the progression of this piece… blame some random War Eagle… who fell out of the sky and suggested that the Collective Intelligence at Wright-Wang Extreme Mystery, Inc. “compose” some REAL music….

Ok. Guess we’ll just jump right on that….

Engineers-in-training can be like that….

The bass line is Chromatic. The Ascent is calculated to add intensity… or energy… and be a bit… unsettling….
A Chromatic Progression… when carried to its logical… or illogical… Extreme… is by its very nature… disquieting…. Bordering on dissonant….
A half-step progression is considered to lend a melody a “delinquent” quality. If quality can be considered delinquent….

But… if you perused the lyrics… then you realize this is a work of Science Fiction… about Robots…. Androids…. Clones…. Cyborgs…. Mutants….

Cybernetically-Enhanced Genetically-Engineered Super-Selected Clonal Lines….

Oh, the sheer GLORY of those GMOs….

The intent of this piece is to be cold and calculating. Utterly devoid of feeling. Mechanical. Inhuman.

This riff does not start out with a catchy tune that makes you want to hum along. If you find any of that… or get some kind… any kind… of warm… fuzzy… feeling listening to this… let us know and we will correct that error in judgment….

This is not a “the Sun is shining brightly and the day is growing warm” number….
That would be the song previous known as Somewhere South of Sheer Insanity, but now titled Nuclear Family Meltdown….

One more little factoid….
Punk Rock began as a revolt against the excesses… the decadence… of Prog Rock….
Punk Rock stripped away the “beautiful”… plethoric… almost Rococo… patina of Progressive Rock….
Prog Rock became a parody of itself… just like Glam Rock….
Prog Rock and Glam Rock were about the glorification of the individual….
Long… shreading… guitar solos….
Long… boring… drum solos….
Every keyboard instrument known to man… stacked on top of one another… and played while wearing a cape….
Punk Rock… was about the Collective….
No solos…. Just chords….
Punk Rock grew out of Anarchy….
Anarcho-communism… to be precise….
Elimination of the power… and the value… of the individual….

Signed,
The Collective Intelligence
