Mister Sun’s and Madame Moon’s Blues

Mister Sun ain’t shinin’ (No!)
He’s hidin’ his face behind a cloud.
Madame Moon sure seems to be pinin’
An’ poutin’ like she ain’t too proud.
The whole sky sure seems to be cryin’…
Big ol’ teardrops are drippin’ down….
Ain’t it sad when you see your love dyin’…?
When frisky smiles fade into frowns….

But what are young lovers supposed to do…
When they feel their love’s fire startin’ to cool…?
Feel themselves fearin’ feelin’ like fools….
Hear themselves singin’…
Mister Sun’s and Madame Moon’s Blues….

Mister Sun starts to feel deflated….
He’s been workin’ like a dog….
Meanwhile Madame Moon is sittin’ there waitin’….
While she’s sharpenin’ her claws….
Now… he’s a henpecked husband
And she’s a bit of a prickly hen….
Somehow their sweet anticipation
Seems suddenly sour again….

It ain’t that anybody’s wrong….
It’s jus’ that they can’t seem to get along….
And… anyone can sing this song….
When you feel your feelin’s begin to feel just a little too strong!

Meanwhile… Mister Sun sure is wonderin’
Just how his hard earned money is spent….
And Madame Moon sits by herself… mumblin’…
Expressin’ her Lover’s Lament.
While each one contemplates divorce-
Steadfastly refusin’ to hug or kiss-
They seem to forget one option, of course…
Try to rekindle their marital bliss….

And… I guess that’s jus’ the way it goes….
Jus’ loves seemingly constant ebb and flow….
And… where it stops…? Nobody knows….
Just try to do your best not to step on anyone else’ toes!

So… I’d like to offer our two sinners
A little free marital advice….
Unless he loves bein’ a loser
And eatin’ cold T.V. dinners for life….
If Mister Sun wishes to be a winner…?
Well… he’d better listen… then make nicey-nice….
Then maybe he’ll come home to a hot dinner
And an even hotter wife!

It ain’t that anybody’s wrong….
It’s jus’ that ya’ll can’t seem to get along….
Like I said… anyone can sing this song….
When you feel your feelin’s begin to feel just a little too strong!

Now… Mister Sun is smilin’
And his face is all aglow.
And Madame Moon seem to be complyin’….
Baskin’ in love’s warm afterglow….
They finally found where their love was hidin’
Found that fire that they thought had gone cold.
And that heat is practic’ly fryin’….
Burnin’ deep in their hearts and their souls….

It ain’t that anybody’s wrong….
It’s jus’ that they can’t seem to get along….
He wants to just set there on his throne…
And that makes her feel she’s bein’ wronged….

Now… if you ain’t gettin’ good lovin’
And you’re that’s as good as love gets….
And you want your wife to stand at the oven
While you slide over to the sofa and sit….
Well… if that’s you idea of “givin'”…?
Then, Buster… you’d better be changin’ your tune…
Or… all too soon you’re likely to be livin’
Mister Sun’s and Madame Moon’s Blues….
